New Year's Eve Ideas 2020

Sharing some of our New Year Traditions as well as some festive areas around our home. Cheers to a New Year, good health and lots of happiness no matter what season of life we are in.

1. GET DRESSED UP

We always spend NYE at home, but to make it fun the girls get dressed up in fancy attire. Once it starts getting really late they usually change into pj's. This has been a fun little tradition we do every year

2. SPARKLY DRINKS IN FANCY GLASSES

It's so fun to get to toast to a New Year!! and the kids get a kick out of drinking something sparkling from a fancy glass. We usually pick up sparkling cider, sparkling juice or cream soda.

3. FUN FOODS

To make it feel like a special event we have fun finger foods and snacks to munch on the entire night. Kids that stay up past their bedtime need fuel or else they'll get cranky so be sure to have lots of snacks out and available. I also get ice cream as a special treat.

4. STREAMERS & PARTY HATS

It's just not NYE without streamers, party hats and noise makers!! It's what makes the night so fun and festive. These are a must!!

5. TAKE AN NYE PHOTO

Every year we decorate a wall and I take a photo of the girls. Sometimes it's just some balloons or just a banner. It doesn't have to be anything elaborate or fancy. I love going back and looking at each years photo to see how much they've grown.

6. RELIVE OUR MEMORIES FROM THE YEAR

It's so fun to go back and watch all the videos you took throughout the year. Look at photos from funny or special moments, family trips and relive all those special memories. This brings feelings of gratitude and joy as you look back on all those good times.

7. SET INTENTIONS FOR THE NEW YEAR

I like to ask the girls what they would like to see us do in the New Year as a family. They usually draw and color their New Year family goals. It’s fun to hear what events or activities really stood out to them, that they want to do more of in the new year. As well as new things they are excited to try.

8. DANCE PARTY As the night progresses I try to keep their energy up. We turn on some music and have a little dance party. We also take turns singing karaoke. One year we had glow sticks and had a glow in the dark dance party. You can get glow stick at the dollar store, and the kids absolutely love them!!

9. TRY AND STAY UP UNTIL MIDNIGHT

Sometimes they make it sometimes they don't and either way it's ok, but the goal is always to try and make it 'till midnight and they sure have fun trying.

If you live on the West coast then you can have your littles ones watch the East coast ball drop three hours early that way they only have to make it 'till bedtime and they won't have to feel like they missed the big drop.

10. KISS AT MIDNIGHT

The best part about staying home with my kids on NYE is getting to Kiss the people I want to spend the New Year with!

We danced, popped party poppers and drank all the sparkling drinks from our fancy glasses and we ALL made it to midnight!!!

Happy New Year!!
