Charlie's 6th Birthday
Charlie wanted a mermaid themed party this year. I kept it super simple. We used the printable flags, sea shells and mermaid cake topper from Over the Rainbow. I ordered a cake from a local bakery and asked that they use butter cream frosting and just smooth the sides. That way I could take it home and decorate it myself. I purchased some candy melts and a sea shell mold from the craft store and made some candy sea shells. It was surprisingly very easy to do. I used the candy shells, some sprinkles and the printable cake topper to make a fun little diy mermaid cake.
Then I got some of our favorite cookies from Frost Your Cookie. She can make cookies to match any party theme. Not only to do they look amazing but they taste yummy too! These mermaid cookies were absolutely perfect!
I always buy my florals from Tarder Joe’s and put together my own arrangements. Their florals are reasonably priced and always make the party feel more festive.
I try to dress the birthday girl in an outfit that goes with the party theme. Charlie‘s cute mermaid tee is from Sprinkle of Whimsy. Her felt starfish hair clip is from Lule Bloom and her skirt is from Target. A cute and simple outfit to match her theme.
We rented a water slide, played some fun summer music, had a bubble machine, barbecued hamburgers and ended the night with sparklers and little poppers.
For the party activity the kids were supposed to paint treasure chest but all they wanted to do was play on the water slide, haha! So instead I sent our cousins home with their chest, some paint and brushes.
The day was spent with family. She had the best day!!
